In 2016 Liverpool John Lennon Airport, in partnership with South Liverpool Homes, launched its first Cadet Firefighting Programme which was aimed to help provide young members of the local community an invaluable experience and gain skills in firefighting.

Following the success of our previous programmes, we are pleased to announce that applications for three Cadet Firefighters to join our Rescue & Firefighting Service (RFFS) for 2019’s programme are now open.

We want to find exceptional people to join our Firefighting service. Do you want to do something a little different? Would you like to work within a fast-paced, dynamic environment and help maintain the safety of the five million-plus passengers that pass through Liverpool John Lennon Airport every year?

To help shed some light on the application process, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions about recruitment and what we are looking for in a future Firefighter.

Our Firefighters come from a wide range of backgrounds. We caught up with some of our previous recruits Mark and Liam, as well as Jade and Dan - former Cadets who are now permanent Firefighters. They shared their story about what led them to apply for the position and how they find life on station.

*Please be advised that preference will be given to applicants who live within our local community.
