Air Traffic Engineer

PERSONAL QUALITIES
• Committed to completing various equipment courses to become an Air Traffic Engineer.
• Reliable and motivated.
• Flexibility, you will be required to work shifts and once trained be on a call out roster.
• Have a logical thought process for diagnosing faults.
• Ability to work in a team and on their own.
• Good communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• A strong understanding of Electronics, ONC/HNC in Electronic Engineering.
• A strong understanding of Communication Principles.
• An understanding of IT based systems.
• A Personal Technical Certificate (issued by CAA) is required to work on the equipment.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Physically fit with good sight (normal colour vision) and hearing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintaining all safety critical equipment within Air Traffic Control and on the airfield.
• Carrying out planned maintenance on communication, navigation and surveillance equipment.
• Carrying out fault diagnosis or rectification on communication, navigation and surveillance Equipment.
• Able to keep an accurate Log book for recording faults and failures.
• Communicating equipment status with Air Traffic Control and Engineering Management.
• Assisting with new project installations.

ANY OTHER INFORMATION/REQUIREMENTS
• A full clean driving License is required.
• Training Courses can be provided for specific equipment.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY INVOLVE
No two days are the same, once the Planned Preventative Maintenance is completed.  You could be:
• Working on the Airfield close to the Operational Runway.
• Further investigating a fault on different Equipment, i.e. RADAR or Instrument Landing System.
• Helping specify the requirements for New Projects.
• Installing new equipment in Air Traffic or on the Airfield.
• Assisting other departments around the Airport.
• Helping to write new procedures or Equipment manuals.
