Cadet Firefighters

LJLA launched the UK’s first Firefighter Cadet Placement Programme in April 2016.

The scheme is open to those aged 18-29 year living in the South Liverpool area. The programme followed on from the success of other schemes designed to help provide more opportunities for communities local to LJLA, including the Airport’s Apprenticeship and Traineeship programmes.

The scheme is popular among young people in the local area as each Cadet will receive the training and a number of qualifications to pursue a career as an Airport Firefighter should a position become available at Liverpool or other UK airports.

The Cadets work within LJLA's Rescue & Firefighting Service as part of a 12 month placement. Cadet Firefighters work alongside fully qualified Colleagues and assist their designated firefighting watch on duty to help maintain an effective firefighting response service at LJLA.

Our work placement schemes run periodically throughout the year with positions published on our Careers pages and on social media.  Please check these pages for more information, or sign up to our newsletter for job notifications.
