At Liverpool Airport, we have made a commitment to fundraise over a two year period for Alder Hey Children's Charity through #LJLALoves Alder Hey. Each year, Alder Hey Children's Hospital cares for more than 270,000 children, young people and their families. As the busiest children's hospital in the UK & one of the biggest in Europe, Alder Hey holds a special place in the lives of many of those in Liverpool and many of our LJLA colleagues have been touched by the work that the Hospital does in one way or another.
Our first £100,000.00:
Since 2017, we have worked with Alder Hey to revolutionise the hospital experience for young patients and families, through both knowledge sharing and through the production of ‘Alder Play’, a digital hospital app. Alder Play provides games and augmented reality features to distract patients during a stay, allows patients to see their ward and meet the staff as well as having a fun reward scheme to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Alder Play also helps parents plan their hospital visit and stores key information about a patient's medical history, likes and dislikes, and any specific needs - all to provide a better experience and to help clinicians provide a more personalised service.

We are currently working towards raising our second £100,000.00 to go toward transforming Alder Hey’s Outpatient area.
