Pick Up & Drop Offs

There are a number of options depending on how long you are expecting to stay when picking up and dropping off passengers in a car at Liverpool John Lennon Airport:

• The Express Drop Off and Pick Up Car Park (facing the terminal, minimum £5 charge)
• Drop Off 2 (400m from the Terminal and free for up to 40 minutes)
• Short stay parking is available in the Multi Storey Car park and is best suited for those expecting to have to wait or be longer dropping off and picking up

Express Drop Off and Pick Up Car Park 

IMPORTANT UPDATE: OUR EXPRESS BARRIERS ARE ALL CARD PAYMENT ONLY.

The Express Drop Off and Pick Up Car Park is designed for drivers who wish to stop briefly to drop off or collect passengers, close to the terminal building.  There are covered waiting areas for passengers as well as pay on exit technology, where drivers can pay by card without having to leave their vehicle. There are normally four exit barriers in operation. .

Travelling passengers who hold a valid Blue Badge can reclaim up to 40 minutes free parking in our Express Pick-up & Drop-off car park.

To apply for a refund please email a copy of your blue badge and your travel documents (both documents must be issued in same name) to [email protected].  Please include your vehicle registration in order to verify time spent in the car park and proof of payment is required.  If payment is made using a debit/credit card, please provide the first six and the last four digits of the card used.  If payment is made using cash, please ensure you obtain a receipt and include a copy in your correspondence.

Drop Off 2 Car Park

This car park is designed for drivers who wish to drop off or collect passengers free of charge, a short walk from the terminal building.  The free period in this car park has been increased from 20 minutes to 40 minutes, allowing passengers plenty of time to make the short walk to and from the terminal should they wish to accompany passengers and still park free of charge.   For periods of stay over 40 minutes better value for money parking is available at the Multi Storey Car Park.

Please be advised you must press for a receipt before making a payment. A receipt will not be issued if you pay before selecting the receipt button.

Refunds only apply to stays under 40 minutes.  Should you exceed 40 minutes in the car park the standard tariff applies and no refund will be issued.

Multi Storey Car Park

The Multi Storey Car Park is the most cost effective option for passengers who wish to park close to the terminal building for longer than 20 mins. This car park is the recommended option for drivers who are coming to pick up or drop off passengers at the airport and wish to accompany them to or from the terminal building. 

Coach and large minibus access to the front of the terminal

In early 2023, the charge for coaches and large minibuses over 16 seats wishing to use the coach bays on the terminal front is due to change to £20 per drop off and pick up, with vehicles able to remain in the area until having completed the dropping off or picking up of all their passengers and luggage. This facility will need to be pre-paid  in advance. Details of the pre-payment process will be published in advance of these changes.

Minibuses below 16 seats and under 2.15m height can use the Express Drop off/Pick up car park, paying the same rates as all other vehicles - see above for the latest prices.

Minibuses below 16 seats but higher than 2.15m can use a dedicated area within the long stay car park, located behind the multi-storey car park and clearly signed from the long stay entry. Rates are £10 for up to 1 hour, £15 up to 2 hours and daily long stay charges apply thereafter.  Payment should be made at a pay station prior to exit. These are located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park or in the terminal building.

FAQs

Q: I am dropping off my family and I want to go into the terminal. Where should I park?

A: If you wish to stay for over 10 mins we recommend you use the short stay car park in the ‘Multi storey car park’ or ‘Drop off 2’

Q: Will there be any changes if I stay beyond 20 minutes?

A: The tariff in the Express Drop Off and Pick Up facility has been increased in order to better manage demand and reduce congestion in this area caused by growing passenger numbers and popularity of products. The increased charge is to encourage more drivers to make use of the other parking areas available. This facility is intended for drivers who wish to stop briefly to drop off or collect passengers closest to the terminal building, however vehicles are remaining in this area for longer than is necessary. The new tariffs will mean that vehicles waiting in this area for over 10 minutes will be better served by the short stay rates available in the Multi Story Car Park. 

Q: Where is ‘Drop off 2’ and is it far away?

A: “Drop off 2” is signposted on the approach road overhead gantry and is 400 metres from the terminal next to Car Hire and Cheap Parking car parks.  There is pedestrian access and it takes approximately 8 minutes to walk to the terminal building. 

Q: Is there a shuttle bus?

A: No. Unlike many other UK airports, all on site car parks at Liverpool John Lennon Airport are within walking distance of the terminal building, avoiding the need to wait for a shuttle bus.

Q: What if I am a Blue Badge holder?

A: Travelling passengers who hold a valid Blue Badge can reclaim up to 40 minutes free parking in our Express Pick-up & Drop-off car park.
