Fly from Liverpool to Tallinn
Why you should go
Tucked away in the northwestern corner of Europe, Tallinn is one of the continent’s most enchanting cities, rich in medieval and recent history.
Much of the tourism in Tallinn centres around its magical Old Town with its Gothic spires and well-preserved walls, whilst elsewhere you’ll find plenty of beautiful parks to wander through on a nice day and other great attractions such as Kadriorg Palace.
When you should go
Tallinn remains fairly cool year-round, but in the summer months temperatures tend to stick around the late teens and early twenties. Another great time to visit Tallinn is December, when the city hosts its annual Christmas markets - one of Europe’s finest and most underrated.
St Olaf’s Church: Once the world’s tallest building, the green roof of St Olaf’s Church rises high above the old town, providing a fantastic vantage point for visitors who can climb up to its observation deck.
Town Hall Square: Tallinn’s picture-postcard location, Town Hall Square showcases the best of the Estonian capital’s architecture and is overlooked by weather vane Vana Toomas (Old Thomas) - a symbol and guardian of the city. Don’t miss Ill Draakon - a tavern located in a former court room of the Town Hall - where you’ll get a truly medieval experience as you drink beer or wine and choose from dishes such as elk broth and game sausages.
Tallinn City Wall: Dating back to the 13th century, Tallinn’s city walls have been well-preserved, and visitors can walk along a section of its 1.85km stretch whilst also observing its 26 remaining defence towers and two gates.
