Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today announced that it will launch four new routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) at the end of October 2008. Services will commence for the winter season onwards to Gdansk and Scezecin in Poland, Knock in Ireland and Faro in Portugal and to celebrate, Ryanair are offering seats on flights to all four new destinations from £31.

This latest expansion brings the number of routes at Ryanair’s Liverpool base to 45 and passengers can now access an even wider variety of European destinations from Liverpool.
Flights will operate daily to Knock in the west of Ireland, three times per week to Faro in southern Portugal and Gdansk in northern Poland and twice weekly to Szczecin in the west of Poland. These latest additions to Ryanair’s services from Liverpool, now mean that combined with existing Polish routes with other airlines, passengers will soon have the opportunity to fly to and from nine destinations in Poland.

Speaking today, Ryanair’s Bridget Dowling, said: “This latest route expansion means that passengers in the North West can now enjoy an even greater choice of low fare destinations. These four new routes which go on sale today will mean an extra 210,000 passengers per annum travelling to and from Liverpool sustaining an additional 210 jobs.

“The announcement of these new routes to Poland, Ireland and Portugal proves that Ryanair is committed to delivering the lowest fares guaranteed and no fuel surcharges ever on all its routes.

“To celebrate, we are offering seats on all four new destinations from £31. We urge passengers to log on to www.ryanair.com today to book their flights as seats to these fantastic new destinations will be snapped up.”

Neil Pakey, Peel Airport’s Deputy CEO, said: “We are pleased that yet more new flights are being announced from John Lennon Airport. More destinations means more jobs, more international tourists coming to the Capital of Culture and more opportunities for us to experience new cities and regions, this time in Western Ireland and Poland.”

“Even at a time when fuel costs are creating big economic challenges, the British people look forward to their short breaks and the Airport now offers these opportunities for travellers right across Europe. Peel’s development of the Airport continues to help transform the region,” Neil continued.
