Low cost carrier, easyJet, today announced expansion of their existing route network from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

Next Spring, easyJet will commence a new daily service to the beautiful island of Jersey. The latest addition to easyJet’s operation from Liverpool increases the total number of destinations to 18.

The announcement comes just weeks after the airline launched a new service to the Capital of Portugal, Lisbon and on 8th January 2008 a new route to the popular skiing destination of Innsbruck in Austria will commence.

Vic Brodrick, Group Commercial Director, Peel Airports, commented: “It’s great to hear that easyJet are to increase their operations from LJLA by adding yet another new route to their portfolio. A daily link to Jersey will certainly benefit the business community and no doubt be popular with those passengers wanting to visit the island for a mini break.”

David Osborne, UK General Manager Commercial, said: "This is an exciting development for easyJet, not only are we launching services to the island of Jersey for the first time, we are also opening up the market with two new currently un-served routes, connecting it with London Luton and Liverpool, providing direct access to the island, which we expect to be popular with both business and leisure passengers."

Jersey is the most southerly island of the Channel Islands and is situated 100 miles from Britain but only 14 miles from the coast of France. This petite island stretches nine miles by five miles and offers visitors a wealth of scenery, beaches, bays and history.

The new service departs Liverpool 31st March 2008 and from next week, passengers will be able to book seats online at www.easyjet.com.
