Ryanair launch St Patrick’s Day project with local school

Staff from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) and Ryanair today launched a St Patrick’s Day themed project for Year 2 pupils at nearby St Christopher’s Primary School in Speke.

The Irish low fares airline is one of the largest operators at JLA, with flights to over 30 destinations including Dublin, Shannon, Cork, Knock and Derry and offered to work with a local school to assist with the Airport’s education links.

With tomorrow being St Patrick’s Day, Ryanair have set the Year 2 pupils at St Christopher’s School, who are all aged between 6-7 years, the task of studying St Patrick and how he became the Patron Saint of Ireland. Those pupils completing the best projects will be rewarded by the Airport and Ryanair in the coming weeks with a VIP ‘behind the scenes’ visit to JLA and to look around one of the airline’s new Boeing 737 jet aircraft based there.

Ryanair’s Maria Macken commented, "St Patrick’s Day is celebrated the world over, but not everyone knows why. As one of Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s biggest airlines with 5 Irish routes from Liverpool we thought it would be great to work with the airport and a local school to encourage pupils to find out more about our Patron Saint."
