Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) today played host to the Olympic Flame and the team responsible for transporting it to the various Torch Relay events, as it passed through the airport on its way to the Isle of Man for the next leg of the relay.

Staff joined in the celebrations as the lantern containing the Flame and the team transporting it stopped briefly for photos at the famous John Lennon statue in the terminal. It then passed on through the airport ahead of its morning departure to the Isle of Man on the special liveried British Airways Airbus A319 aircraft called ‘The Firefly’, that has been used to transport the Flame by air.
