It was an opening ceremony with a difference for one lucky guest attending last night’s official opening of the new Sevisair ASPIRE premium lounge at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

Believed to be amongst the best in the UK, Servisair’s new £250,000 ‘Aspire by Servisair’ Airport lounge is the first of Servisair’s distinctive, modern, high quality lounges to be developed outside of London.

To mark the official opening, the Airport Company decided to give invited guests the chance of having their very own ‘claim-to-fame’, by drawing from the hat the name of one guest to be given the honour of officially declaring the lounge open and unveiling a commemorative plaque.

Lesley Martin-Wright, Chief Executive of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce was drawn out and subsequently opened the lounge. The commemorative plaque will be taken away to have her name added before being re-installed for all future lounge visitors to see.

As the biggest airport lounge operator in the UK, Servisair are currently rolling out the new Aspire Lounge concept to a number of airports in Europe, each individually designed to meet the needs of different passengers and reflect the identity and culture of their location.

The lounge is a total of 249 sq. metres and can comfortably seat up to 97 passengers – twice as many as the Airport’s previous executive lounge.

Craig Richmond, CEO Peel Airports commented, "This is a superb, high quality addition to the facilities here at the Airport for our passengers to take advantage of and the feedback from everyone here today has been extremely positive.

I’m sure it’s not everyday that Lesley is invited to open a facility such as this and then have her name engraved on a plaque to commemorate the occasion, but she certainly performed her official duty as well as any celebrity I’ve seen do this"

Lesley, who also received a couple of complimentary lounge passes added, "One for the family photo album for sure. I could get quite used to this celebrity lifestyle but I suspect it’ll be a one off. However you don’t need to be a celebrity to use this lounge and I’m sure this great facility will prove popular with many of the Airport’s passengers."
