Representatives from Merseyside Polonia, were permitted access to the Ryanair flight arriving from Lodz this morning to welcome Polish folklore band ‘Zolotar’ who will be playing at Saturday’s inaugural Polish Midsummer Festival at Chavasse Park, Liverpool One.

Merseyside Polonia is a Liverpool based organisation that aims to develop positive relations between the Polish Community and local residents here on Merseyside and are the organisers of the Polish Midsummer Festival.
The day-long event will be filled with performances of live Polish folk bands, dance, singing and workshops on arts and crafts. There will be an opportunity to create a flower headdress, learn some Polish Language and traditional dance and find out more about Poland and its treasures.

Folklore band ‘ZoÅ‚otar’ cultivate folk music of Eastern Europe, with unique, slightly modernised arrangements of traditional folk songs. The band members use a wide range of instruments and various performance techniques, as well as rhythms inspired by Latin American, African and Indian music.

As part of a joint promotion, Ryanair and Liverpool John Lennon Airport agreed to fly over the band especially for Saturday’s event and to help promote flights to six Polish destinations currently served by Ryanair from Liverpool.

Ryanair have flights to 6 Polish cities from Liverpool and this event will be a tremendous way to showcase what a great place Poland is to go and visit and how easy it is to get to, direct from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.”
