Czech Airlines, a member of the global SkyTeam Alliance, has announced that it is to commence a twice weekly scheduled service from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to Prague, the capital of The Czech Republic.

Liverpool will become the airline’s only UK destination and is one of a number of new European routes announced by Czech Airlines as part of their latest growth plans.

Flights will be departing on Mondays and Fridays operating year round, departing from Liverpool at 08:55 and return flights departing from Prague at 07:00. The schedule will be ideal for leisure and business passengers alike giving travellers the opportunity to spend either a weekend or a working week in Prague. Flights are now on sale at www.czechairlines.co.uk

Czech Airlines is the flagship carrier of the Czech Republic, which has been in operation since October 1923, making it one of the five oldest airlines in the world. Czech Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam alliance with carriers including Air France, KLM and Delta Air Lines.

Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic and it is often described as one of Europe’s most beautiful Cities, with a history that goes back a millennium and the best beer in Europe. The City boasts more than ten major museums, along with numerous theatres, galleries, cinemas, and other historical exhibits with a modern public transportation system that connects the city.

Andrew Cornish, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “This is great news and another clear indication of our growing reputation, with airlines recognising the business opportunities available by serving the North West market via Liverpool.

Our research shows that significant volumes of passengers already travel between the Liverpool City Region and Prague but have to fly from other UK Airports. This new service will now mean that the region’s passengers will now be able to travel with the convenience of flying from their airport of choice.”
