Algarve, Portugal

The ultimate European destination for diving, surfing and golf, the Algarve in Portugal offers some of the best waves, golf resorts and marine life in Europe. In the south of Portugal, Faro the capital of the Algarve region offers traditional charm and a pretty Old Town. Situated on the edge of the Ria Formosa national park, Faro is an untouched region of natural beauty.

Portugal offers a range of water sports, including paddle surfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing. If you’re new to surfing, let the gentle Atlantic waves that kiss the coast of Lagos in southern Portugal, provide you with a base to learn and perfect your technique. One of the best surf schools in Lagos is Surf Experience, offering beginner classes and only an hour drive from Faro. Experience Portugal

With a massive sweet tooth, the Portuguese are known for their passion for rich and creamy pastries. Indulge and enjoy their most famous pastry, the pasteis de Belem, a bite size custard tart topped with cinnamon, which was first manufactured according to an old recipe from the Jeronimos Monastery in 1837. Now the Lisbon bakery Antiga Confeitaria de Belem sells over 50,000 of this sweet dessert every Sunday.
