Record start to holiday season at LJLA

LJLA today announced a record start to the Summer getaway with more than half a million passengers travelling through the Airport during the month of June.

A massive 507,781 passengers chose to use Liverpool Airport last month – an increase of 12.3 % compared to June 2006. The continuing increase in passengers can be attributed to the ever increasing range of destinations available from Liverpool bringing more choice for passengers who travel to LJLA from all over the Country.

Robin Tudor, General Manager, Corporate and Community Affairs said:
“No doubt the wet weather will have played a part in the record number of passengers getting away to sunnier climes this June but with the school holidays still to come, the forecast for further passenger growth at LJLA is certainly a lot brighter than the weather!”

Despite recent heightened security vigilance, passenger numbers continue to increase and the forecast for passenger growth for the whole of 2007 is around 5.5 million passengers.

Ryanair have recently announced further expansion into Scandinavia with flights to Stockholm starting in October. Additional new flight announcements are anticipated later in 2007 as the Airport continues to work with various airlines to bring additional services to Liverpool.
