Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today welcomed passengers on board its inaugural flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to Agadir in Morocco which will operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Thursdays and is the Airport’s first scheduled service to North Africa.

Ryanair’s new winter sun routes to Lanzarote and Gran Canaria will also begin this week, as well as two news routes from Liverpool to Bratislava and Rzeszow.

To help passengers get in the mood, representatives from the Moroccan Tourist Board came along to the Airport to offer a sample of Moroccan hospitality with complimentary Moroccan tea sampling.

Katie Smorthit, Head of Marketing for Peel Airports commented, "This has been a busy week for the Airport with half term holidays bringing additional passengers and Ryanair commencing a number of great new destinations, including a link to North Africa for the first time and also to the Slovakian capital, Bratislava.

The growing diversity of routes from the Airport is down to Ryanair and others continuing to develop their business from Liverpool, despite this continuing to be a tough time for many in the aviation industry."

Speaking in Liverpool today Ryanair’s Maria Macken said, "Ryanair is delighted to welcome passengers on board its new route from LJLA to Agadir, the pearl of the South. Agadir boasts nearly 10 kilometers of clean, sandy beaches. Take your pick – walk idly beside the lapping waves or stroll the boardwalk on Rue de la Plage. Check out the market at Suq al-Had brimming with herbs and spices or sample some of the local dishes.

"Ryanair continues to develop great new routes so that passengers can beat the recession by flying at Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharges to exciting destinations all over Europe and North Africa. Ryanair will continue to grow as other airlines pull routes and reduce capacity."
