You don’t have to leave the UK to enjoy a fantastic winter sports holiday. Choosing to fly from Liverpool to Edinburgh with Flybe and then travelling onwards by car or public transport to the Scottish Highlands means that snowy winter fun is just a short, convenient hop away.

The Scottish Highlands offer five winter sports centres, all catering to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. With great facilities and amenities in all of the local areas, this makes it an ideal destination for those trying out winter sports for the first time, as well as for those with years of experience.

Cairngorm

Scotland’s most popular resort, Cairngorm Mountain holds a reputation as one of the most challenging, yet beautiful places to ski or board in the UK. The north-facing slopes are renowned for holding their snow and host not only skiers but also the annual Aviemore Dog Sled Rally, Europe’s biggest and most gruelling event of its type, welcoming over 200 dog teams every year.

Glencoe

A real favourite with many boarders and skiers, Glencoe Mountain is famed for its friendly and laid back atmosphere as well as the challenging terrain. Home to Britain’s steepest black-graded run ‘The Fly’, Glencoe has in recent years increased in popularity with more experienced, thrill seeking skiers and snow boarders.

Glenshee

Covering more than 2,000 acres and four mountains, Glenshee offers the UK’s most extensive snow sports experience. Starting with tractors as makeshift ski lifts in the 1930, the centre now boasts 21 lifts and tows.

Nevis Range

The newest snow sports centre in Scotland, with Ben Nevis providing the impressive backdrop, offers the highest boarding and skiing in the country, with challenging off-piste terrain that rivals some of Europe’s best resorts, and more gentle runs where snow often lasts into late spring.

Lecht

With a snowboarding fun park, snowtubing and a timed run for the more experienced skier, the Lecht activity centre is perfect for beginner to intermediate level winter sports fans and families. With considerable recent investment, this centre now offers activities all-year round.
