Liverpool Gin, the local hand crafted premium organic gin has today gone onto the shelves of the World Duty Free tax and duty free stores in the Departure Lounge at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

This is the first time that this premium Gin, which is produced in limited batches at a site in Huyton, has been available for passengers to purchase before flying out of LJLA.

Both World Duty Free and LJLA management are keen to work more closely with local companies and explore ways to help each other’s businesses.  Discussions over the sale of Liverpool Gin at the Airport began following the acquisition of the brand earlier this year by Huyton based Halewood Wines & Spirits, the UK’s leading independent drinks manufacturer and distributor.

Agreement soon followed between one of the world’s leading travel retailers - World Duty Free, a Dufry company - who have operated the tax and duty free stores at the Airport for many years and Halewood, to stock the famous Liverpool Gin on their shelves.

David Taylor, LJLA’s Interim Commercial Manager commented, “It’s great to be able to showcase award winning local products such as Liverpool Gin here at the Airport and to offer the millions of passengers flying out from here the opportunity to purchase it as they pass through.

“This is a great example of how we want to support local businesses whilst helping each other at the same time.”

Simon Roffe, who manages Halewood’s travel retail business, commented “This is a fantastic example of partners at the Airport working together to offer customers a premium product reflecting the history and heritage of a great city.  World Duty Free at LJLA is the first Airport retailer in the world to stock Liverpool Gin. Hopefully this will be just the start of our collaboration”

“The team here at World Duty Free Liverpool are thrilled to be hosting this launch” comments Joanne Hagar Store Manager.  “

“Our business is very focused on supporting local companies and local products and we listened to our customers’ requests for this product.   This is the start of a great new working partnership with Halewood and hopefully will be the first of many more.”
