Who doesn’t love a Spring Bank Holiday weekend?! Jersey, Channel Islands

With a flight time of approximately an hour, this scenic Channels Island is perfect for those wishing not to travel too far from Liverpool. Only nine miles by five, it may be small but it has plenty to offer! A hot spot for surfers and water sport lovers, explore the island’s hidden gems on a Seafari, or take in Jersey’s incredible views whilst paddle boarding or learning to kayak.

With six Jersey Heritage sites, there is plenty to explore for those wishing to immerse themselves in local culture and history. Previously under German occupation in WWII, the Jersey War tunnels offer a poignant reminder of this period of history.

For families, Tamba Park is set in stunning natural surroundings with a fantastic range of activities that the children are sure to enjoy. Head off on a Dino Trail or visit the indoor Rain Forest themed Play zone for an enjoyable family adventure.

Malaga, Spain

Often seen as the doorway to the Costa del Sol’s more popular resorts, however in the recent years this costal Spanish city has been transformed into the perfect destination for travellers wanting to mix a city break with culture and maritime life. Malaga is layered in history that dates back 3,000 years; explore its fascinating past in its multiple museums, castles and exhibitions (it’s also the birthplace of world celebrated painter and sculptor Pablo Ruiz Picasso) whilst enjoying its current vibrant and lively bar scene, delicious and unique food culture and warm sandy beaches.

If you would prefer to head out of the city, Nerja, located in the east of Malaga is home to some of the most spectacular scenery and ideal for those who enjoy hiking and being in the great outdoors. The rugged landscape of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park will provide you with a stunning adventure.

Newquay, UK

Back on Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s  schedule from May 26th 2018! With a flight time of one hour fifteen minutes (which might be shorter than your daily commute to work) Newquay is a fantastic destination for those wishing to have a stay-cation!

Famous for its idyllic beaches and surfing culture, this popular destination that’s located on the southwest coast of England, is a great choice for families, couples and groups of friends. The month of May sees water sport festivals such as Freeride World Jet ski Championships and Surfaced Pro Surf Competition take place. For families there is the Trenance Cottages’ Spring Fayre and Flambards theme park. Explore Cornwall’s pirating past with the Pirate’s Quest, or visit the multi-award winning Newquay Zoo that is home to over 130 species of animals.

Shannon, Ireland

Another return to LJLA’s schedule! Named after the river that this city stands near, Shannon in County Clare is one of the most beautiful areas the West of Ireland has to offer. If you are looking for a destination that is filled with castles, medieval towns, natural beauty, relaxing atmosphere and Irish charm then this is the place for you!

Throughout the year, many people head to this location to take a guided boat trip on the Atlantic Ocean on the lookout for dolphins and grey seagulls and seabirds.

With wonderful backdrops to the greens, Golf lovers will have an array of courses to choose across this region making it the picture-perfect weekend break away.
