Fundraising Highlights
There are a variety of fundraising events that Liverpool Airport are involved with throughout the year, some of which are listed below.
Some of our larger events include:
Plane Pull December 2017 £5,500
Before Christmas, teams from Peel, Matalan, Santander, Alder Hey, Gaskells and more pulled a Blue Air Aircraft on the LJLA taxiway to raise money for our #LJLALoves Fundraising partnership with Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
Each team were given one minute to pull the plane as far as they could, the distances were then recorded and the winners received medals, the runners up got certificates and the losers received a sack of sprouts!
Teams were also joined by giant elves that helped the teams warm up before their pull.
Guests were then treated to mince pies, cakes, buns and a warm drink after their pull. We also welcomed the Alder Hey Charity Team who held raffles and showed the new Alder Play Digital App!
Liverpool Santa Dash 2016-2017- £854
Known as the official ‘Curtain Raiser for Christmas’, a number of our colleagues took part in the Liverpool Santa Dash to raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. For our last entry, our engineering team converted an old hospital bed- complete with a propeller & sound system into an Aeroplane, with Cirrus our Mascot being pushing around in it through the course!
Vintage Tea Parties - £2,200
The charity team, in collaboration with the Merseyside Police Airport Team, have held multiple Vintage Tea Parties since the beginning of our partnership. These events were aimed to bring Airport colleagues together, some even changed their meeting locations to the tea parties! So far we have held:
- Class Vintage Tea Party
- Christmas Vintage Tea Party x2- including a meet 'n' greet with Santa, raffles and a tipsy tombola
- Royal Vintage Theme Party- including a visit from "Harry and Meghan" (aka two very well dressed constables)
RFFS Car Washes- £2,500
Members of our RFFS helped us to organise fundraising car washes in the Speke retail park in both 2017 and 2019. Our firefighters brought their Barracuda fire appliance and spent their day washing the public's cars for £5 each. Some generous customers gave a lot more than the £5 charge. On the days, we also welcomed Olli the Alder Hey elephant and kids were given the experience of being a 'firefighter for a day'; getting a look inside the fire appliance, and even using the hose!
Mystery Box Auction Summer 2017- £5500
The Fundraising team held a prize box auction with 40 Mystery Boxes ranging from Gold to Bronze standard, as well as 10 Prize Boxes that were given to the highest bidder. Prizes ranged from Alcohol to Golf experiences days to LFC match tickets. The event was an absolutely amazing success and a pinnacle of our fundraising journey.
