They’re under starter’s orders and… LJLA is expecting an influx of race-goers…

In the build up to the world famous steeplechase at Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool John Lennon Airport .(LJLA) is expecting an influx of race-goers to pass through en-route to this year’s three day event.

Many of the almost 4,000 passengers arriving over the next three days on flights operated by Ryanair and easyJet from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, are believed to be flying in especially to attend today’s Liverpool Day races, Ladies’ Day on Friday and the Grand National on Saturday.

During the three day event 29 scheduled flights will be arriving from destinations traditionally popular with racing enthusiasts including Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock, Belfast and Derry Airports with passenger loads expected to be higher than normal.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Peel Airports commented, "On the back of last week’s Easter getaway, this will be another busy few days here at the airport. The Grand National event is always popular with race-goers from The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland with passengers taking advantage of the many low-cost fares, short flight times and the convenience of flying to Liverpool on their way to Aintree."
